In these structured sessions, subgroups of the class - the catchers - will play the role of either technical consultants or investors putting the pitching team on the hot seat. (more...)
Pitching team provides catchers with up to 5 pages of background material. The catching team meets prior to the session to strategize about what issues they want to push and challenge and encourage the pitching team on. The pitching team gets the floor for 1/3 of the session, the catching team can then either counter present for 1/3 of the session and the remaining time is Q&A lead by the catching team.

A structured session in which each team project is subject to focused critique by a panel of classmates. (more...)
Think about time frame – total available, how much for prep, how much for P&C, how much for debrief.
Goal is session in which all teams get to pitch and all members of class put in equal time as catchers.
Here's how it might work for, say, 12 students (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L) and 6 projects (AB, CD, EF, GH, IJ, KL)

1. Start with 15 minutes in which catch team meets to develop its questions and challenges
2. Catch team is divided into “Users” and “Funders” and should prepare/get in the mindset of one or the other. We suggest each catcher write down 2 black, 2 white, 2 green, & 2 yellow hat. Start catch session with 5 min for users, then 5 for funders, with remainder a free flowing conversation.
   1. Funders should keep a focus on our agreed upon criteria. For example, in our legal innovation challenge we work with the following:
      • Meaningful (important problem)
      • Innovative
      • Beneficial (impact at scale)
      • Legal
      • Feasible (could it happen)
      • Sustainable (business/financial model)
   2. Users should be thinking about user journey and the question of their pain and their gain

Pitching teams to write an after-action report identifying directions they are going in for next iteration based on feedback. Write up should include their version of what they heard as feedback and their response – not answers to the feedback, but indication of where they are going with it.
