(hcd) Be conversant in the concepts and skilled in using the tools of human centered design

Empathy: Demonstrated deep appreciation for the idea that "you are not the user."
A cultivated inclination to ask "what if?" rather than "what's wrong?" and to say "yes, and" rather than "no, but."
Familiarity with and experience conducting a wide range of user research methods.
Ability to listen creatively.
Ability to participate productively in brainstorming and ideation with a team.
A well developed sense of creative confidence, comfort with failure, and ability to generate wild ideas.
Deep understanding of the value and purpose of, and a well developed reflex for, (low resolution) prototyping.
A demonstrated understanding and commitment to iteration.
Ability to lead a human centered design workshop.
